City Weekend says:

The cocktail alchemists behind Apothecary bring masterful cocktails and premium whiskies to the Jianwai SOHO set. Try the apricot old fashioned or the Sazerac. Twilight plays world-class jazz and is elegantly decorated, but visit late as the noise from downstairs early in the evening can sometimes break its spell.

Where: 11 Dongdaqiao Xiejie, Sanlitun Nanjie
Contact:

  • 6501-8682
Contributed by: alextaggart

City Weekend says:

This Sanlitun pub's large neon sign pronouncing ?British Exotic Bar? has garnered more than a couple of chuckles. However La Fite's oddball décor, solid drinks and decent sound system make it a decent destination for expats looking to soak up the atmosphere at one of the capital's quirkier bars.

Contact:

Contributed by: bluewing

City Weekend says:

One of the chillest bars at the top end of Hou Hai, this dive has the look and feel of a southwest China backpacker hangout. Tao Yao is far enough away from the touts that it still has some of the old Hou Hai feeling. Friday drink deals bring out a crowd of travelers and young expats.

This Irish boozer from the guys behind the venerable Frank's Place impresses with its friendly atmosphere, on-tap stouts and tidy selection of whiskeys. With a bona fide Gaelic chef cooking up hearty Irish stews and corned beef toasties, this is the capital's most authentic Irish pub.

This Japanese shochu bar is one of the capital's best kept secrets. Hidden behind a short wall of bushes on the east side of Sunshine 100, G-Zou serves a wide menu of Japanese shochus, organized by province of origin and flavor. A small menu of Japanese bar food perfectly complements G-Zou's divine iced spirits.

China World Summit Wing's 80th floor bar is the highest in Beijing. It's got the great views you expect, a vibe that feels like Centro plus one some of the best cocktails in Beijing (around RMB65 and NO surcharge!) poured by a bartender swiped from one of Germany's top bars.

City Weekend says:

Live jazz is an appropriate match for this Lido bar's elegant decor and drinks list. With well crafted cocktails, Collage aspires to be Lido's Centro, but its down-to-earth style and gorgeous patio are more comfortable and homey. Collage Bar is a solid destination for both drinks and music in Lido.

Launched by the Gongti tycoons behind Mix, this club features a difference concept on each floor. With suede chairs, wood furnishings and a casually dressed young crowd, the well-lit downstairs lounge radiates a chill living room feel. Upstairs, dark dance floor raves, smoke machines and flashing LED lights make House complete.

Category: Nightlife > Bars
Where: 121 Jiugulou Dajie

  • 8404-3430
Contributed by: stonebanks

City Weekend says:

Dark woods and dim lighting give this hutong music bar the look of a classic saloon. Upstairs has private rooms and a lantern-lit deck overlooking the Gulou rooftops. Service is competent, and the menu includes a small but serviceable list of beers and cocktails, but the real stars are the local bands that pass through.

City Weekend says:

In the basement of the 3.3 Mall, this Back Street newcomer serves cheap booze to a mostly Gongti-style hip-hop soundtrack. It's equipped with a dancer's pole that doesn't see much use, but the outdoor tables are crowded with locals slurping up beer and chuan'r during summer.
