Ember Swift ?? Live Concert @ Jiang Hu Bar ????- Sat, 04 Sep 2010 13:00:00 -0000
Category:

Live Music
Contributor Description: Canadian artist Ember Swift is an internationally touring musician and songwriter. Though she currently calls her home base Beijing, she continues to tour extensively throughout Canada, the US, and Australia and has released 10 albums and 1 DVD project since 1996. In between her regular touring overseas, though, she?s been hiding out and writing bilingual Chinese-English songs near Chao Yang Park for the past two and a half years. Having taken the time to learn Chinese, immerse in the culture as well as to develop a new body of work that settles more naturally into these cultural surroundings (LENTIC, released 2009), Ember Swift will be bringing her music to stages in Beijing with a trio performance @ Jiang Hu on Saturday September 4th, 2010, 9:30pm. The trio, assembled in Beijing, includes Australia?s Zac Courtney on the drums and Burundi?s (East Africa?s) Paplus Ntahombaye on the bass. They are three people who come from three very different parts of the world but who have chosen Beijing as their current homes proving, once again, that Beijing is truly a global magnet. In addition, they will feature a guest on erhu, a young female Chinese musician named Wang Ya Qi, whose skill on the instrument really adds to several songs. This performance will be a combination of some of Ember Swift?s new Lentic material alongside of her previously released older material. Styles include jazz, swing, R&B, funk, pop, folk-rock, blues, and French cabaret. Ember sings in English, French, and Mandarin. If you?re looking for a diverse collection of music without having to endure the waiting times between multiple bands, this is the show to attend!
