We will run approximately 10-15km, all year around and in all conditions so please dress accordingly. After we run, we haze each other, drink beer and enjoy a rowdy meal as all good friends do! On On to this months Boxer Hash on Saturday, 28th August. Your hares are 'Kiss My Maple Leaf' and a Mystery Hare, who have teamed up to give us the Escargot Hash, named so because we will be running around and aboot Yanqi Lake and Hong Luo Si (???) area on the outskirts of Huairou! If you like, bring some swimwear if you fancy cooling off in the reservoir at the breathtaking bash site after the run. |

Hike: Zhuangdaokou to the Walled Village- Thu, 19 Aug 2010 10:14:17 +0800We will begin this hike at Zhuangdaokou and take a look at the 300-year old ?Phoenix and Dragon? pine trees before hiking up to the Zhuangdaokou Great Wall. From the wall, we have the option of an easy, flat walk, or a tougher climb up to some of the towers ? both options ending up at the Walled Village, a settlement that has grown up inside and around an old army barracks that used to house soldiers tasked with guarding the Great Wall. 2-3 hours of relaxed walking, price includes lunch at a restaurant at the foot of the Huanghuacheng Great Wall. Hikers with extra energy have the option to finish lunch early and take a short climb up. There are great views of the Great Wall stretching in the North and then curving west as we walk along it. The area is surrounded by mountains, and contains the largest river canyon in Beijing ? as we climb into the hills we will get great views of both. The hill trail leads over the mountains, up to a lookout, out a valley past a small reservoir, and then on towards the tombs. After a quick look around the outside of two of the closed tombs in the area, as well as the Tomb Caretakers? Village, we?ll get lunch at a local restaurant before finishing up with a stroll up the Sacred Way, the official entrance to the tombs in times gone by. RIDING HORSE TO THE WILD UNRESTORED GREAT WALL- Mon, 30 Aug 2010 11:50:20 +08001 day tour on EVERY Sunday Start out at 9am, we go to our destination by high speed and air-conditioned bus+texi, visit local farmer's courtyard, fruit trees, pet dogs, swallows and their love nests... You will taste typical farmer's lunch (fish barbecue, Wild Vegetables...), then we ride horse and climb the mountain to the WILD UNRESTORED Great Wall. The horses are well fed by local farmers. They are meek so the safety is guaranteed. When the horse is running, you should grasp the saddle tightly and lean your body forward, as same as leaning your body forward when climbing up the mountain on horseback. When you are riding horse down the mountain, you should lean your body backward. If your horse runs too fast, you can draw rein to slow it down. If you like, you can do hiking along the wild unrestored great wall for a longer time, to feel and experience the wild nature beauty which is totally different with the rebuilt walls. |
